Welcome Katie to the SBL Family with her Body Positive Yoga classes at the studio. This introductory class will be a 30 minute Q&A forum followed by a 30 minute complimentary class. Please know that we will be taking photographs of the class.

What is Body Positive Yoga?

Body positive yoga is uniquely designed for larger bodies, and is open to anyone that wants to learn to love their bodies. Body positivity is a social justice movement that every body deserves love and respect. In this class, we use yoga to connect our mind to our bodies and explore the sensations of our body with joyful movement, creating community and a safe space for everyone. This class will workshop poses and teach variations to explore the benefits of each pose developing stability and ease, as well as enabling your personal practice to empower you to do what works for your body no matter what yoga class you attend. Yoga poses are tools to build strength, balance, and flexibility and working within our own bodies can be valuable to all.  Several styles of yoga will be explored over 6 classes including, slow flow vinyasa, restorative, yoga nidra, meditation, and chair yoga. 
This class is appropriate for brand new beginners, those who are intimidated by yoga studios, and those who are seeking a supportive community to practice with. This is a weight neutral, gender neutral, and inclusive space. Wheel Chair accessible and no stairs are required to reach the studio space and chairs used during class have a 650lb weight capacity. Please contact us if any other considerations can be made.

I am a working mom of two who came to yoga through a desperate need to reconnect with myself. Yoga has opened my heart and allowed me to find peace and acceptance of my body. I hope to create a space for EVERY BODY to explore the joy and enlightenment that yoga can provide. With a Yoga for All training certification and a passion for continued learning, my goal is to help everyone find individuality and accessibility in their own practice.

We'll also touch on the importance of working on your mindset so you never feel restricted or like you are on a diet again.  Eating healthy doesn't have to be all or nothing.  We can be healthy and still enjoy our lives complete with a donut every now and again!   

About Our Host: Courtney is a certified nutrition coach with over 6 years of experience helping others change their lives and their relationship with food, fitness and nutrition.  She found her passion for nutrition when she experienced for herself how truly transforming nutrition can be.  Going from tired and run down all the time to filled with energy and a zest for life was a turning point for her.  She wanted to help others know what feeling good can actually feel like!  When she isn't nerding out on nutrition, you can find her coaching CrossFit and spending time with her husband and 3 kids.  She is a huge fan of PNW summers, but not so much the dark winter months.  She loves hiking and camping and is looking forward to hiking Mt. St. Helen's this summer!

You've been to a yoga class and everyone is so welcoming and you like it, but sometimes it still feels like it's an elusive club. You find yourself asking: "Where should my feet be? How does it feel to engage your core? How can I modify on the fly to do a little more? Or a little less? I don't feel anything in that pose, what should I be feeling? I don't look like the instructor - should I?"

This workshop is here to help you feel more confident in your mat, help you identify how you should be feeling in common poses, modifications you can use to back off or edge into a pose. Bring all the questions you always forget to ask or you just don't have time to address after class and discover how to feel a little more confident on your mat!

In this very hands on class you’ll be provided with 6 fresh baked cupcakes plus all the tools and instruction needed to create 3 different buttercream flowers right on top of your cupcakes, then finish them with beautiful greenery. All you’ll need is an apron!

At SBL we're thrilled to bring you a community event incorporating all the things you crave on a Friday night – some yoga to warm the body, your favorite drink to help you celebrate the weekend, and socializing over a board game!

To start things off, we'll get moving with a casual, low-impact yoga practice focusing on easing the joints and stretching the muscles. This will be a great class for anyone needing a little relaxation and movement at the end of the week.

Then we'll move to the lounge area to unwind and socialize! Bring a friend or two to play together or join a group and mingle with the community! We'll have games of all types and for all group sizes - check out a few of our offerings:

  • Settlers of Catan: Resource-based game - acquire stock of sheep, brick, hay & iron to build your empire – trade with others and rule over the land! (Play time: 1+hr)

  • Ticket to Ride: Become a railroad tycoon – strategize to achieve objectives and try not to let others "railroad" your plans! (Play time: 1+hr)

  • Giant Jenga: Bigger is always better  Choose your bricks carefully and don't let the tower fall over! (Play time: 15min-1hr)

  • Wits & Wagers: Gamble over useless facts! How many poisonous snake bites occur in the US annually? Take a guess & bet on other players' answers! (Play time: 30min-1hr)

  • Lords of Waterdeep: Strategy game by the makers of Dungeons & Dragons. Choose a secret identity and acquire resources to fulfil your hidden objectives. (Play time: 1+hr)

  • Cards Against Humanity: Classic party game – break the ice, create outrageous phrases & laugh your faces off (Play time: 15min-1hr)

A refreshing workout followed by a pint of delicious Lumber House craft beer! We will start with 30 minutes of Vinyasa Fusion Yoga in the tasting room, followed by 30 minutes yoga poses that incorporate sipping on your pint (included in your ticket)!

- Must be 21+ to participate.
- Limit participants- so sign up ASAP!

$20 Ticket includes:
- 1 hour Vinyasa Fusion: The tap room will be clear of tables and chairs and we will set up our mats for a combination of floor exercises on the mat and standing strength exercises.
- 1 pint of Lumber House craft beer (optional yoga only ticket for $15)

- What to bring: Your yoga mat and a water bottle. Note: Our tap room floors are cement, Lumber house will provide a blanket, but if you would like more cushion bring a thicker mat, stack two mats, or bring an extra blanket.
