Body Positive Yoga

Welcome Katie to the SBL Family with her Body Positive Yoga classes at the studio. This introductory class will be a 30 minute Q&A forum followed by a 30 minute complimentary class. Please know that we will be taking photographs of the class.

What is Body Positive Yoga?

Body positive yoga is uniquely designed for larger bodies, and is open to anyone that wants to learn to love their bodies. Body positivity is a social justice movement that every body deserves love and respect. In this class, we use yoga to connect our mind to our bodies and explore the sensations of our body with joyful movement, creating community and a safe space for everyone. This class will workshop poses and teach variations to explore the benefits of each pose developing stability and ease, as well as enabling your personal practice to empower you to do what works for your body no matter what yoga class you attend. Yoga poses are tools to build strength, balance, and flexibility and working within our own bodies can be valuable to all.  Several styles of yoga will be explored over 6 classes including, slow flow vinyasa, restorative, yoga nidra, meditation, and chair yoga. 
This class is appropriate for brand new beginners, those who are intimidated by yoga studios, and those who are seeking a supportive community to practice with. This is a weight neutral, gender neutral, and inclusive space. Wheel Chair accessible and no stairs are required to reach the studio space and chairs used during class have a 650lb weight capacity. I am a working mom of two who came to yoga through a desperate need to reconnect with myself. Yoga has opened my heart and allowed me to find peace and acceptance of my body. I hope to create a space for EVERY BODY to explore the joy and enlightenment that yoga can provide. With a Yoga for All training certification and a passion for continued learning, my goal is to help everyone find individuality and accessibility in their own practice.
